Harlem Returns

Presented by Cape Cod Chamber Music Festival at First Congregational Church

Cape Cod Chamber Music Festival (CCCMF), Cape Cod’s premiere presenter of summer chamber music presents the Grammy® award-winning dynamic Harlem Quartet in Harlem Returns on Wednesday, August 8, 7:30 pm at First Congregational Church, 650 Main Street, Chatham.

Eliciting thunderous ovations at its Festival debut in 2016, The Harlem Quartet has gone on to even greater accomplishment as a spectacular performing ensemble.  The four gifted musicians recently collaborated with Chick Corea and Gary Burton on the multi-Grammy® award-winning album Hot House on the track “Mozart Goes Dancing”.

Well-versed in the classical genre and jazz, listeners are enthralled by Harlem’s performing dexterity and versatility with a program including Schubert’s “String Quartet No. 13 in A Minor, D. 804 (‘Rosamunde’)” and Webern’s “Langsamer Satz for String Quartet”.  Listeners will be transported to another world with the ensemble’s unique interpretation of a few favorite classics, including Rodgers’ “My Funny Valentine”.

Founded in 2006 by The Sphinx Organization, The Harlem Quartet showcases a wide range of composers in an effort to expand diversity in classical music onstage as well as in the audience. The Detroit-based Sphinx Organization is dedicated to transforming lives through the power of diversity in the arts. Founded by violinist Aaron Dworkin, Professor for Art Entrepreneurship and Leadership at University of Michigan’s School of Music, Theatre and Dance, the national organization works to create positive change in the arts field and in communities across the country through a variety of programs.
