“Fiber Fusion: Construct, Deconstruct, Reconstruct”, a fiber arts exhibit will be on view from July 5 – August 13. There is an opening reception on Friday, July 6 from 5:00-7:00pm.
Fiber Fusion is a group of four friends, each with their own distinct take on fiber arts. Each artist seeks to expand the definition of fiber art by integrating materials other than what is normally expected in the genre. In this way, the group is attempting to expand the conversation of what fiber art can encompass. The title “Construct, Deconstruct, Reconstruct” refers to the the processes the artists use to make their work.
Toni Newhall revisits older pieces that she previously considered “stalled”, transforming them into new works.
Christine Anderson uses weaving techniques to combine a variety of materials, creating pieces that reflect the natural world.
Carol Flax’s collages depict still-lifes and landscapes in the traditional fashion, yet they are created entirely from repurposed magazine pages.
Lisa Horton’s works are created using found objects, old photographs and other media to tell a different story with each piece.
