Royston Nash Mini Jazz Festival

Royston Nash Mini Jazz Festival

Presented by Cotuit Library at Cotuit Library

Saturday, June 9th, 4:30 - 5:30 PM: Lee Donais Duo - Cape Cod jazz pianist and vocalist Lee Donais steps up to the mic to give us some fabulous jazz music. Lee Donais may be the only industry member who played piano (as part of the Navy Band) for three United States Presidents: Johnson, Nixon and Ford.  After his career with the Navy Band, Lee was hired by Gordon Keller to help run His string of piano stores on the east coast. Lee moved to Florida and worked with former NAMM (National Association of Music Merchants) President Chuck Hale for eight years.  Lee’s business knowledge along with the fact that he is a musician not only led to his partnership with Gordon Keller but also success as a strong supporter within the industry, including as a member of the NAMM Board of Directors.

Sunday, June 10th 4:00 - 5:00 PM: Kareem Sanjaghi Latin/Jazz Band - Drummer Kareem Sanjaghi, known for his 10-year association with trumpeter Lou Colombo and with his grandfather, pianist Bob Hayes, leads this exciting Latin/jazz quartet performing selections from the Great American Songbook. Featuring: Gary Gross (guitar), Fred Boyle (piano), Rich Hill (bass), & Kareem Sanjaghi (drums).

5:30 - 6:30 PM: The Wicked Trio - Reminiscent of the guitar/bass/drums blues-based power trios of the 1960s, but with jazzy sophistication and a broad dynamic range. Classic blues favorites, some British Invasion, upbeat jazz, originals and a few surprises. Featuring: Bert Jackson (guitar & vocals), Paul Lesniak (sax), Scott LaRiviere (bass), & Kareem Sanjaghi (drums).

This mini jazz festival is part of our Royston Nash Music Appreciation Series, supported in part by the Arts Foundation of Cape Cod, the Mid Cape Cultural Council, and the Kirkman Trust.
