2nd Wednesday Theater: Rumble Bumble

Presented by Cotuit Center for the Arts at Cotuit Center for the Arts

2nd Wednesday Theater: a monthly play reading of rarely performed classics, undiscovered gems, old chestnuts, and exciting new works.

June definitely brings an exciting new work: Rumble Bumble, by Cape Cod writer John Pomeroy, presented by Matt Kohler and the New Classics Company, famed for full-length original plays, festivals, workshops, weekly improv and comedy shows, and their notorious series of Star Warsspoofs.

Now in its fifth summer in residence at the Guyer Barn in Hyannis, The New Classics Company has become a vital part of the artistic life of the HyArts Cultural District.

“Rumble Bumble” is a musical, a comedy, and an exploration of the mind of Tommy, the star (along with three singing puppets) of the smash hit syndicated children\\\'s television program “Rumble Bumble,” which takes place on the farm of the same name.

Tommy faces a real dilemma: he enjoys his success on the show, but at the same time feels as though his happy-go-lucky, kid-friendly role limits his possibilities as an actor and as a man.

Will Tommy stay with the show and endure a possible life sentence of typecasting? Or will he figure out if all of his problems are just in his head?

Lucky for Tommy he receives guidance from his friends, as well as the puppets from his show, who -- unbeknownst to the world -- talk and sing musical numbers with their pal Tommy.

You just knew there would be singing puppets, didn’t you?
