The C-Scape Artist Residency with Regina Binder and Tom Boland

The C-Scape Artist Residency with Regina Binder and Tom Boland

Presented by Provincetown Art Association and Museum (PAAM) at Provincetown Art Association and Museum

The program offers 3 three-week residencies for artists who feel their work would be enriched by being in the dune landscape.  In creating the program, the Compact continues to strengthen the connection between the arts and the environment.  Artists selected are required to talk about their work with the public twice a week when the Park Service leads guided tours to the shack.

Workshop participants will learn about the program, see the evolution of artists’ applications and have an opportunity to be jury members in the artist selection process.  Participants will break into groups to evaluate artist in residency applications (names withheld) and then discuss who they picked and why.

Regina Binder has more than 25 years of experience in domestic and international tourism, historic preservation, visitor planning and destination development.  Binder brings her proprietary methods of qualitative analysis, community outreach, and commitment to placed-based thinking to all of her work.  Her connective visioning and engagement processes are designed to align the interests of the diverse stakeholder groups involved in tourism, preservation and planning.  Binder holds a Master of Science degree in Historic Preservation from the Graduate School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation at Columbia University in the City of New York, and a BA in Art History from Vassar College.

Tom Boland holds a Master of Arts Degree in Preservation Planning from the Boston University Graduate School of Arts and Sciences.  He worked for the Boston Landmarks Commission as an Historic District Administrator before moving to Provincetown.  In Provincetown, he was the Chair of the Provincetown Historic District Study Committee and subsequent Chair of the Provincetown Historic District Commission.   Tom is also a landscape painter and has exhibited his work at the Schoolhouse Gallery in Provincetown.  Since 2004, Tom has been co-owner of Far Land Provisions in Provincetown  and Far Land on the Beach in the Cape Cod national Seashore.
