Jodi Kantor and Andrew Sullivan in Conversation: After Weinstein

Jodi Kantor and Andrew Sullivan in Conversation: After Weinstein

Presented by Twenty Summers at The Hawthorne Barn

Prize-winning investigative reporter Jodi Kantor and provocative political commentator Andrew Sullivan will unite for a tête-à-tête on the rapidly changing cultural landscape in the wake of Kantor’s momentous 2017 New York Times story exposing Harvey Weinstein’s decades of alleged abuse toward women. That story set off a worldwide reckoning that empowered victims to come forward with the truth about men who had been abusing their power in a wide range of fields for years. Sullivan, whom we are honored to welcome for a third appearance on the Barn stage, has spoken out fearlessly as well, at times challenging the most far-reaching effects of the #MeToo movement on privacy and sexuality. We anticipate a timely and riveting conversation.

Jodi Kantor is a prize-winning investigative reporter for The New York Times and a best-selling author. Ms. Kantor specializes in long-form, deeply reported stories. In 2017, she and Megan Twohey broke the story of Harvey Weinstein’s decades of alleged abuse towards women. Before that, Ms. Kantor’s investigations into conditions at Starbucks and Amazon prompted national debates and policy changes at both companies. For six years, Ms. Kantor wrote about Barack and Michelle Obama, delving into their ideas, biographies, family, marriage, faith and approach to the White House, and covering the 2008 and 2012 presidential campaigns. Ms. Kantor is a contributor to CBS This Morning. She lives in Brooklyn with her husband, Ron Lieber, and their two daughters.

Andrew Sullivan is a political commentator, and a writer-at-large at New York magazine, a former editor of The New Republic, and the author or editor of six books. He was a pioneer of the political blog, starting his blog The Daily Dish in 2000, which covers everything from politics to religion, pop culture to web humor. He spends time in Provincetown, and can frequently be seen strolling Commercial Street.
