"the heART of me" - Photography by Jen Clark

Presented by Falmouth Community Television at Unknown

Photography by Jen Clark will be on display at the Maser Gallery from April 2 through May 3, 2018. The public is invited to an opening reception on Sunday, April 8, from 3:00 – 5:00 pm.

Jen Clark began her photographic journey over 30 years ago as a high school student.  She enjoyed wandering outdoors to find something new and hidden that she could capture with her camera. With the encouragement of her teacher and the support of her family, Jen pursued her passion for photography to Rochester Institute of Technology where she earned a BFA in Photography in 1994. Of her passion, Jen says: “I create art because I must. My camera is a tool, a guide, a shield and a bridge.”

Jen moved to Cape Cod immediately after graduating RIT and opened her first photography business specializing in wedding photography and family portraits. As the professional photography industry changed Jen decided to take the studio in a totally different direction.  In 2011 Jen changed the name of the business to PhotoJenic Studio and began to phase out wedding photography so she could concentrate exclusively on portraiture in all its forms, including landscapes and nature studies. “My landscape and nature photographs are a little bit of my soul on display for all the world to see,” muses Jen. “Some are colorful and free, others are dark and moody. Some are sharply realistic while others are soft and fanciful.”

As the owner and portrait artist at PhotoJenic Studio, Jen creates luxury heirloom portraits of people and pets in her Harwich studio or on location around Cape Cod and southeastern Massachusetts.  “My portraits of dogs embody the immense love these animals so freely give,” she explains - adding, “with a humorous twist.”

Jen is an executive board member of Professional Photographers Association of Massachusetts (PPAM), a board member of Professional Photographers Association of New England (PPANE), and a member of Professional Photographers of America, (PPA), and Professional Photographers of Cape Cod (PPOCC).

Jen has competed in state, regional and international photographic competition where her portraits and scenic works have been awarded blue and red ribbons for excellence. Jen holds the Certified Professional Photographer degree (CPP) from PPA.

With the exception of one piece, all the works in this exhibit are made with traditional color photographic print processes and were created between January 2013 and January 2018.

Maser Gallery Exhibit Hours: Sunday 12-8 pm; Monday, 2-10 pm; Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, 10 -10 pm; Friday 10-6 pm; Saturday, Closed.
