April Art Show and Reception

April Art Show and Reception

Presented by Brewster Ladies' Library at Brewster Ladies' Library

Jennifer is a visual artist, musician, face painter, and expressive/creative arts facilitator. She began drawing and painting at a very young age, and took private and group lessons from various New Jersey artists. She began to exhibit her work publicly in 1998 and has sold many paintings since then. Jennifer’s experience with the healing powers of expressive art developed into a strong desire to help others tune in to their own creative gifts. In 2009, she received her Certificate of Graduate Studies Program for the Professional Application of Expressive Arts for Healing at Salve Regina University in Newport, R.I. Since then, she has been working with groups and individuals using expressive arts – music, visual, writing, movement, theater – as a way for people to deepen their own self-discovery process and as a tool to deal with specific issues. She has run groups for addiction and eating disorders, grief, depression, physical challenges, and more. Currently, she is the Art Director for the Boys and Girls Club of Cape Cod in Mashpee, as well as a certified CTI trained Life Coach.

Although born and raised in New York, Annie has spent over 20 years living in New England. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Studio Art from Kenyon College in Gambier, OH and Master of Arts in Expressive Therapies with a concentration in Art Therapy from Lesley University in Cambridge, MA. For the past several years Annie worked as an Art Therapist, and now with her return to the Cape, she returns to her first love of creating art. She uses various mediums such as drawing, watercolor, and mixed media for self-exploration. It can be joyful, and at times angst-ridden, but always it is a practice that provides the enrichment of creativity as well as healing and self-enlightenment. Her art has been described as whimsical, joyful, and soothing. On the Cape, Annie has shown her work at such venues as The Framing Gallery (now Artworks!) in Orleans, and Women’s International League for Peace & Freedom Invitational Art Show in Falmouth. In Vermont, Annie has shown her work at the Shelburne Art Center in Shelburne and the Chaffee Art Center in Rutland, as well as other various locations.
