An ARTWeekMA Event:

What does it take to create amazing productions at the Cape’s major cultural institutions?  Gain creative insights and ask questions of  Jung-Ho Pak, Artistic Director of The Cape Symphony, Michael Rader, Artistic Director of The Cape Playhouse and Amanda Wastrom, Asst. Curator at Heritage Museums and Gardens.  Mindy Todd, WCAI’s producer and host of the Point will lead the discussion.

​Jung Ho Pak was described by the New York Times as a conductor who “radiates enthusiasm” and the Los Angeles Times as “a real grabber,” He has led orchestras throughout our country and around the world, presenting a unique way to fall in love with the symphonic experience. Celebrating ten years with the Cape Symphony, Jung-Ho admits that one of his most “audacious” goals is to reach every single person on Cape Cod with the gift of beautiful music. He has been committed to our education programs (Music Works! Everyday, Music Memory, and the Cape Youth Orchestra among others) since joining in 2007.  For the Masterpiece Series, Jung-Ho presents the great classical works in unexpected and dramatic ways, and brings his sense of fun to the Pops Series concerts.

Michael Rader is a stage director and arts advocate based in New York City. He is the current Artistic Director of the historic Cape Playhouse in Dennis, MA. His diverse career in the arts has afforded him positions such as Artistic Director for Cirque du Soleil, Broadway Liaison and Arts Education Consultant to the New York City Department of Education and Director of Entertainment of the Hole in the Wall Gang Camp. During his first year of tenure at The Cape Playhouse, the institution conducted successful fundraising and set it on strong financial footing, launched new educational and outreach programs for the community. Additionally, The Playhouse's production of Gypsy that he directed broke box office records and was nominated for three Broadway-World awards including Best Musical and Best Direction.

Amanda Wastrom is a curator, writer, and artist.   In addition to working with the Cape Cod Museum of Art as their Guest Curator for the Mysteries & Revelations exhibition in 2017, she has worked as a freelance curator and designer for Highfield Hall & Gardens, Falmouth Museums on the Green, Osterville Historical Museum, Cape Cod Art Association, and Cape Cod Museum of Art. She is a contributor to Cape Cod LIFE, Cape Cod HOME, Cape Cod ART, Cape Cod Magazine, and Primetime Cape Cod. In 2017, she joined the staff at Heritage Museums & Gardens as Assistant Curator.

About Cape Cod Museum of Art

Founded by artists in 1981, CCMoA is the home of Cape Cod art.  It preserves the work of the Cape’s finest artists and celebrates the distinctive artistic identity of the Cape, the Islands and the region. The Museum is a major hub of cultural creativity that educates, inspires and excites the imagination through its outstanding art collection and diverse programming. It is located in a beautiful setting surrounded by a sculpture garden at the Cape Cod Center for the Arts. CCMoA has seven galleries, a museum shop and film screening room. It is supported in part by the Massachusetts Cultural Council and the Arts Foundation of Cape Cod.

                CCMoA is located at 60 Hope Lane, just off Route 6A, on the Center for the Arts campus with the Cape Cinema and the Cape Playhouse in Dennis, MA. Hours are 10 am to 5 pm Tues through Sat and noon to 5 pm on Sunday.  It is open on Thursdays from 5 – 8 with no admission fee.  General Admission is $9, $7 for seniors and students 19+ with school ID, $5 for students 13 to 18, and free for children 12 & under.
