Works for Flute and Guitar

Presented by Provincetown Tennessee Williams Theater Festival at Cape Cod Museum of Art

The program will feature works from western classical music by John Dowland and Mauro Giuliani, traditional pieces of Romanian, American and Irish heritage and works by the Argentinian composers Astor Piazzolla and Fernando Carlos Tavolaro.

 

Guests are invited to mingle with the musicians over light refreshments following each performance.

About the Performers:

Carl Gutowski has been playing the flute for over 40 years in chamber music, orchestral and solo settings. He has performed in master classes with noted musicians such as Paula Robison and studied chamber music with members of the Cleveland Orchestra. As a student he was the winner of the SME Concerto Competition and was a featured artist on “The McGraw Hill Young Artist Showcase” on New York’s WQXR. More recently he performed live on WOMR's Cafe Classicale in Provincetown, MA. Mr. Gutowski is currently the Concert Manager of the Howland Chamber Music Circle (howlandmusic.org) in Beacon, NY, in the Hudson Valley.

 

Professionally, Mr. Gutowski has been a Software Engineer for over 25 years, having worked on projects in the fields of aeronautics, publishing, education, commerce and finance. He holds a BA degree in Mathematics from Vassar College and an MS degree in Computer Science from Tufts University. He and his wife Zinnia live in Poughkeepsie, NY, and Brewster, MA, have two grown children and one grandchild.

 

Classical guitarist David Temple has performed throughout the country as a soloist and an ensemble player, carrying out the mission of presenting concerts full of color and variety. He has released four CDs, including original compositions, original transcriptions, and repertoire from the past five centuries.

 

A graduate of the music school at Eastern Michigan University, David is Artistic Director and Vice President of the Mid-Hudson Classical Guitar Society, and teaches both guitar and composition at Bard Conservatory, Preparatory Division, and at his home studio in Red Hook, NY.
