The 2nd Exhibit in the Cape Cod Art Center’s 70th Anniversary Exhibition.
Defining Dreams, Changing Places (1948-1969)
Cape Cod Art Center, formerly known as the Cape Cod Art Association, is presenting a series of mini-exhibitions this year to commemorate its 70th Anniversary. The series, At 70: Still Learning, Still Creating, will unfold with new displays quarterly.
Defining Dreams, Changing Places (1948-1969) documents the art group’s nomadic years in Hyannis as founders and members moved to ever larger spaces while hotly debating the competing practices of “traditional” objective and “modern” abstract painting.
The 70th anniversary lobby exhibits have been researched, edited and curated by board member Rebecca L. Lawrence of Centerville, with help from a number of other volunteers and Art Center staff.
The Cape Cod Art Center is located at 3480 Route 6A, Barnstable. It is open 9am – 4pm Monday through Saturday. All exhibitions are free and open to the public. For more information, visit www.CapeCodArtCenter.org or call (508) 362-2909
