Painting prompts looking, curiosity, production and stimulation. This three day intensive workshop consists of multiple daily exercises, or prompts, to train the painter to not be tentative, more intuitive, and to develop a free lyrical approach to painting.  Individual and collaboration prompts are assigned after the instructor’s demonstration.  Color mixing, paint application, and subject matter are discussed.  Evaluation and group critique of prompt outcomes occur to progress and grow with further assignments and beyond the workshop. You’ll leave the workshop with a sense of confidence and ideas about approaching the medium to become a more well-rounded and prolific painter.

Megan Hinton’s paintings and works on paper have been exhibited throughout North America. She shows her work at The Tao Water Gallery in Provincetown, The Old Spouter Gallery on Nantucket Island, and The Carver Hill Gallery in Rockland, Maine. Hinton holds degrees from Ohio Wesleyan University, The School of the Museum of Fine Arts Boston, and New York University. She has been awarded artist residencies from The Women’s Studio Workshop, The Vermont Studio Center, and Nantucket Island School of Design. She has been the recipient of two local Massachusetts Cultural Council grants for exhibitions held in Wellfleet in 2013 at Preservation Hall and in 2014 at The Harbor Stage Company.  In the summer of 2014 Megan’s paintings appeared in a featured article in Provincetown Arts Magazine.  Her work is included in the permanent collections of The Cape Cod Museum of Art and The Provincetown Art Association and Museum.  Hinton is an avid traveler and admirer of the ocean, both of which inform her work.
