Blogging, Facebook, Instagram and other forms of social media have created a paradigm for the seismic changes in the ways people communicate and connect. Making artworks is essentially a solitary act that conversely necessitates the building of a community, a place to talk about ideas, struggles, materials and networking, the latest must-see exhibit and the things that inform and shape us as human beings.

Gleaning from social media and the connectivity of art communities, Lost Cat will focus on artists working in some of the new directions in contemporary art – the preeminence of materials, the un-locatable immediacy, confrontation and deconstruction, new understandings of composition and intention, ultimately acknowledging the hand of the artist and the need for community. Fifty-four national artists are contributing to this exhibition.
