Who should attend: artists of any kind, jewelers, glassblowers, ceramicists, sculptors, gallery owners, schools, art supply stores, hobbyists.
You are invited to join Kalliope Chute for a free workshop on reducing artists’ exposure to hazardous chemicals. Some compounds in the products artists use pose health risks, including cancer, depressed lung function, chemical sensitivity and neurological harm. This engaging and informative workshop provides an understanding of how art chemicals can harm you and how you can reduce exposure.
Kalliope Chute is the Hazardous Materials Environmental Specialist at Barnstable County’s Cape Cod Cooperative Extension. She is the program manager for the Water Quality and Hazardous Waste program areas and has served the county since 2004. She volunteers on the Provincetown Board of Health and is on the board of directors of the Cape Cod Hoarding Task Force and MassRecycle. Kalliope lives with her husband, FF/EMT Mike Chute in Provincetown, where they have an oyster grant and bee hives.
