Staged Reading of DNA, a Three-Act Comedy

Staged Reading of DNA, a Three-Act Comedy

Presented by Sandwich Arts Alliance at Sandwich Masonic Lodge

Making Sandwich “the oldest town with the newest works” has been an ongoing goal the Sandwich Art’s Alliance continues to fulfil, this month with a staged reading of DNA, a three-act comedy by alliance member June Bowser-Barrett taking place on Friday, October 20th at the Masonic Lodgell on 175 Main Street from 7-9 pm.

DNA tells the story of two families planning the “wedding of the century”. The fact that both are Scottish and descendants of ancient clans only serves to heighten the competition and escalate the crazy drama of the event.

To enhance their pedigree and discover more relatives, the families agree to do DNA testing. What ensues is mayhem. Is anyone who they thought they were? In the light of this new information can there even be a wedding? There are lots of laughs as the MacDornans and the Campbells try to sort this all out.

The cast includes: Chris Esdale, Karen McGarr Goershel (last year’s new playwright), Christopher Hall, Bud Hammond, Brian Hanley, Fred McCormick, Heather Pannell, Anna Pannell, and Grace Ripley.

June Bowser-Barrett also directs. She is a member of Playwrights’ Platform, Boston.  A sometimes actor, director and producer, she has had several plays produced in New England and was a member of the company at the Atlantis Playmakers Theater in Burlington, Massachusetts.
