“Sea Trials: Around the World with Duct Tape and Bailing Wire” by Wendy Hinman will be the first book shared at our first new Maritime Book Club meeting on Wednesday afternoon, October 18 from 1:00-2:30 p.m. The true story follows the adventures of the Wilcox family as they set off to sail around the world on their 40 foot sailboat, Vila. After being shipwrecked on a coral reef 13 months later, the family must rebuild their boat in spite of many obstacles, some of which threatened to overwhelm them. Hinman is the award winning author of “Tightwads on the Loose” and is currently the Editor of the Writer’s Connection. The book is available at many bookstores including the shop at the CCMM.
