The Great American Songbook

The Great American Songbook: Thursday, October 15th, 1:30 - 3:00. Lovers' Laments. John Whelan and Steve Bornemeier will lead their students through The Great American Songbook and its origins, featuring "standards" written by recognized and lesser known songwriters, with versions performed by a variety of singers. Some of the works to be addressed and songs to be sung in this first of five sessions are those of George and Ira Gershwin, Cole Porter, Duke Ellington and Paul Francis Webster.
