Painting Workshop with Sean Cassidy

Impressionist Painting of Boston

A two-day painting workshop with Artist Sean Cassidy.

$225/$275
Saturday and Sunday, November 7 & 8
Time: 9:30-3:30 Both Days

The workshop will involve Sean painting one of his Boston Street scenes.

A two-day workshop for students to learn in a step by step manner. Sean will paint a Boston street scene and students can follow along as he works step by step on a painting. Each student will be supplied with their own printed version of the photo that Sean will paint. Each day we will have time to break and discuss each work and the process .

Day 1

Sean will demonstrate his under-painting technique (a combination of drawing and wiping away with the paint). Students will be taught the science of perspective and how to sight and size their drawings using their brushes, pencils and a simple grid of the picture plane. If day one allows enough time Sean will begin blocking in local color to the painting to set up for more detail work later. There will be time for the students to have some one on one time after the demonstration is done. Sean will then come around and help each student individually.

Day 2

On day two Sean will have the local color blocked in or do that first if it
wasn’t done on day one. After blocking in local color and value. Sean will
work on placing in the details to the painting. Each stage will have an
in-depth description and analysis to help students understand each phase of
the process. Color, value, composition and design will all be an integral part
to the two-day workshop.
