With photos and videos, Jerry Portnoy talks about his career that includes playing with the fabled Muddy Waters Blues Band and Eric Clapton’s Band.
Blues harp player Jerry Portnoy will reflect on his far-reaching career and the history of Blues Music at Cape Cod Museum of Art. He grew up in the blues-rich atmosphere of Chicago and will show videos and photos and talk about his experiences with the fabled Muddy Waters Blues Band, as leader of the Legendary Blues Band, as head of his own band The Streamliners, and four years as a featured member of the Eric Clapton Band.
Jerry Portnoy has played on several Grammy Award-winning albums and was a Grammy Award nominee in 1997 for his work with the Muddy Waters Tribute Band. Television credits include appearances on Saturday Night Live, Soundstage, MTV, VH1, and the Disney Channel, as well as writing and performing original music for Sesame Street. His CD instructional package, Jerry Portnoy's Blues Harmonica Masterclass, is widely regarded as a premier teaching tool. Jerry Portnoy now lives outside Boston, Massachusetts.
