The “Figurative Artists at Schulenburg Studio” is a gathering of Cape Cod artists who meet weekly at the studio of Eastham artist Paul Schulenburg to paint, draw or sculpt the figure. The group consists of approximately two dozen or so artists; twelve to fourteen are painting at the studio at any one session. The group enjoys fabulous camaraderie and lively banter - but all are serious about the figure painting experience. The artists employ widely varying styles. Some work in a classical realist manner, others paint large expressionistic canvases. Many of the artists are professionals who show in local and regional galleries. The paintings in this show feature a cross section of the diversity of the group, and represent the very best work selected artists have created.
