Four Tuesdays, September 5, 12, 19, 26 Join Odin in a series of sessions that change their directive each month and are devoted to working in a smaller and more intensive learning environment, to improve specific artistic skills. In September we will be focusing on laying down what is truly important when working on a painting. Students will discover the benefits to working quickly. They will learn to find the most important elements of the structure of a good piece of art and how to put them together to create better and stronger work without hyper-focusing on detail at the start. Large shapes, values and major lines will be addressed as well as the use of direct color in a painting. Students will need to bring several canvases and several images to work from. It is stressed that those references not be too complicated. We will be doing two 20 minute paintings each Tuesday and students will be given the remainder of the time to work on those. These classes will help artists to become more confident in their own skills and bring a sense of self and creativity to their own work. Taking risks will be encouraged! Must be on an intermediate to advanced level, and must have their own acrylic supplies. This class meets in Odin’s Studio on the upper level of the Education Wing.
