A great introductory workshop for all those who ever wanted to sculpt realistic heads. Suitable for beginner and intermediate sculptors
Instructor Neil Grant will teach you to sculpt realistic portraits in a series of easy steps. Using a model and other materials as reference, you’ll learn how to look at a person, simplify what you’re seeing, and sculpt a realistic likeness.
At each stage of the workshop, you’ll receive demonstrations and instruction before trying it yourself. “Sculpting can be great fun but to get a realistic likeness, you need to learn a process. The aim of this workshop is to teach you that process in a series of logical steps.
"The atmosphere of the class is fun and friendly, but at the same time you’ll be learning solid techniques that you can take away with you,” says Neil.
The workshop takes place at Cotuit Center for the Arts. The model, clay, and sculpture stands are all included in the pricing. Tools will be provided, but students are welcome to bring their own. Bring a bagged lunch and snacks for the day.
$200 for workshop ($170 for Cotuit Art Center members)
