Introduction to Ikebana: The Japanese Art of Floral Design/Traditional Moribana Arrangements with Gr

Presented by Highfield Hall & Gardens at Highfield Hall & Gardens

All materials are supplied

This class will begin with a short demonstration of the Ikebana form Moribana in which flowers are arranged asymmetrically in a low bowl (suiban) with water visible. A workshop will follow during which participants will create their own Moribana arrangements. Simplicity, harmony and naturalism will be emphasized using a few, basic rules. It’s fun, and anyone can do it! All necessary materials, including pin cushion holder (kenzan), low container, and floral materials will be provided. Participants may take this home with them after the workshop.

Gretchen Ward Warren is a member of Ikebana International Chapter 65 of St. Petersburg, FL and a Certified Instructor in the Ichiyo School of Ikebana. She has conducted numerous ikebana demonstrations and workshops. Her floral arrangements have been exhibited at many garden club flowers shows, Ikebana exhibitions, and Art in Bloom at the Museum of Fine Arts in St. Petersburg.
