The Harry Allen Trio performs jazz at historic Woods Hole Community Hall in Falmouth on Cape Cod, Wednesday, November 11th, at 7:30 PM. Tenor saxophonist Allen is one of the most well-known swing artists of his generation.  He has over 30 recordings to his credit including three albums that have won Gold Disc Awards from Swing Journal Magazine. He has performed with Rosemary Clooney, Ray Brown, Hank Jones, Scott Hamilton, Harry 'Sweets' Edison, Kenny Burrell, Herb Ellis and both John and Bucky Pizzarelli. Rounding out the trio are Italian-born pianist Rossano Sportiello and bassist Frank Tate. Sportiello is known for his stride piano performances, and he was winner of the 2006 Acsona (Switzerland) Jazz Award. He has over 25 solo or small group albums to his credit and has performed with major jazz artists such as Slide Hampton, Clarke Terry, Barry Harris, Bucky Pizzarelli, Bob Cranshaw, and Howard Alden. Frank Tate was leader of the house band at Blues Ally in Washington D.C. before moving to New York to join Marian McPartland in 1975. He performed on Cape Cod with trumpeter Bobby Hackett, and he worked regularly with the legendary pianist Dave McKenna at the famous Columns Club in Dennis on Cape Cod.  Harry Allen last performed on Cape Cod as part of JazzFest Falmouth 2012.
