Dan Welden: Solarplate Printing Workshop

Dan Welden: Solarplate Printing Workshop

Presented by Cape Cod Museum of Art at Cape Cod Museum of Art

Welden demonstrates how to make Solarplates and print both intaglio and relief plates. As an original pioneer of safer and greener methods, he has been in the forefront of printmaking without the use of acids or other dangerous chemicals .

Experiment with the new Solarplate in the printmaking process. Draw, paint, or work photographically and then re-work your images with gesso, Caran d'Ache crayons, matt medium, and other mixed media materials. The excitement of hybrid works on paper can yield many interpretations from a singular Solarplate and can be used in combination with the monotype. Although the process may be new, for self-directed printmakers there will be a strong emphasis on developing a ‘series’ of ‘one of a kind’ works.  Artists may also feel free to bring their rejects or incomplete works, to be re-worked and given new life.   Fee includes materials.
