The art of Cecilia Capitanio, Kim Cragin and Lisa Horton will be on display at the Maser Gallery at Falmouth Community Television from August 30 through September 24, 2015. The public is invited to attend the Opening Reception, Sunday, August 30, from 6:00-9:00pm.

Cecilia Capitanio is a self-taught artist born in Vina del Mar, Chile. At a young age she worked with watercolors and pencil drawings. In school she won numerous awards participating in different art contests, which further motivated her to continue in developing her skills. In 1972 she moved to the USA and began experimenting with different media, developing a deep desire to study masters like Monet and others who have influenced her way of painting with an impressionistic approach. Throughout the years she has been trained by exceptional fine art painters like Jaime Alfonso of Chile; Ellen VanWyck of Rockport, Massachusetts; Constance Flawell Pratt of Norwell, Massachusetts; as well as in seminars with Charles Soveck of Cape Cod, and David Curtis of Rockport. She has also attended classes in The Danforth Museum of Art in Framingham, Massachusetts and The Boston Museum of Fine Arts. Cecilia's award-winning paintings have been exhibited in numerous juried art shows in the US and in countries abroad. Her work can be found in private art collections in the USA, Germany, Spain, Chile, Canada, and Russia. Oils remain one of her favorite mediums to paint with because of the power and brilliance of the colors able to be conveyed in portraits and landscapes, however, she also enjoys painting with pastels, watercolors, and acrylics and appreciates the unique qualities each medium gives to her work.

Kim Cragin was born in Burlington, Vermont and grew up in North Attleboro, Massachusetts. As an artist, wellness practitioner and workshop instructor, she enjoys working with acrylics, collage and art journaling.  She is inspired by the great Impressionist Masters such as Monet, Van Gogh, Cézanne and her gifted mentor and teacher, Cecilia Capitanio. She received an MA from Salve Regina University in Holistic Counseling with advanced graduate studies in Expressive Art Therapy.  Kim’s desire is to live a creative life that is devoted to the mind, body and spirit connection.  Dividing her time between Cape Cod and Key West gives her the opportunity to enjoy and connect with nature’s beauty and landscape and bring that energy into her paintings.

Lisa Horton was born and raised on Cape Cod.  She always “dabbled” in collage, but entered the art scene late in life. “Although I took art classes throughout school and have always been a creative person, when I started my family I put my art aside,” explains Lisa. “Thirty years later at the urging of my co-workers, family and friends I decided to start creating again. I primarily work in collage and 3D assemblage, finding much of my inspiration from nature.”  True to that inspiration, she uses twigs, shells, dried flowers and other organic materials as well as fabric, rice paper, beads and wire in her creations.  A member of the Falmouth Artists Guild, Lisa is currently exhibiting at Local Colors Gallery in Woods Hole, Rice Gallery and Woodruff’s Art Center in Mashpee.  She has also shown at Black Crow Gallery in Sandwich, the Beach Tree Gallery in Hyannis and at the Mashpee Public Library.  Lisa has studied with local artist and sculptor Chris Odell Ferguson and taken workshops with fiber artist Tony Newhall and multimedia artist James Musto.
