Portable Beaches - Local Scenes-To-Go

Portable Beaches - Local Scenes-To-Go

Presented by Woodruff's Art Center at Woodruff's Art Center

Mashpee artist Betsy Payne Cook, who can be found painting at locations around Cape Cod year round, presents a collection of pastel paintings that are a reflection of all seasons; "Silvery Day" captured the solitude of Old Silver Beach on a spring day when the storm clouds looming in the distance threatened a storm as the slivers of strong light glanced off the sands of Old Silver Beach. Forestdale artist Candice Ronesi, whose realistic style is widely recognizable and collected, invites the viewer down a sandy path in her richly detailed acrylic “Dowses Beach” encompassed by wispy grasses and a solid rock jetty to a seemingly protective bend. Falmouth artist Gunjan Laborde’s impressionist style, quasi-abstract at times, enchants the viewer with a rainbow of energetic pastel toned waves breaking at the feet of a solitary beach walker upon purple and blue sands in her painting “Sunset Beach Walk - Chapoquoit”.

The exhibiting artists are Christine Anderson, Roger Bigg, Patty Calkins-Martin, Betsy Payne Cook, Chris O’Dell Ferguson, Gunjan Laborde, Amy Rice, Candice Ronesi, Rebecca O’Donnell, David Sigel and Sue Dahling Sullivan.
