Triple Play- Theater Performance

Triple Play- Theater Performance

Presented by Wellfleet Preservation Hall at Unknown

Prez Hall welcomes the Absurd Theater Co. to our downstairs stage for 3 nights of short play programs: Tues. 8/25, Thurs. 9/10 and Sun. 9/27. Each night will feature different selections by  one famous/classic playwright and  two local playwrights.

Tonight's selection includes -

Beverly Bentley in "Rockaby" by Samuel Beckett, "Back to Nature" by Mark Hanlon, with Bragan Thomas, and "Well, what are you going to do"? by Mark Hanlon, with Judy Israel.

“I saw “Rockaby” with my daughter on opening night at the La Mama Theater in New York City in the 1980’s, and was very moved by it,” said New Absurd Theatre Co. director Mark Hanlon. "Samuel Beckett’s favorite actress, Bille Whitelaw, performed memorably. My daughter asked me what it meant as we were leaving the theater and I said, “I don’t know. It’s a lyrical poem and I’ll have to read it to understand it.”"

Opening the evening will be “Well, what are you going to do?”, a meditation on what happens when you lose everything, featuring Judith Israel. The middle play, “Getting Back to Nature,” with actors Sarah MacDonnell and Bragan Thomas, is a satirical look at what happens when a young couple tries to get back in touch with nature. These two plays were written by Mark Hanlon.
