Could birds in the house be a treasure? Find out at the Harwich Historical Society’s Decoy Appraisal Day with Ted Harmon of Decoys Unlimited, Inc. Harmon will appraise decoys, bird carvings and related materials. Appraisals will be done on a first-come, first-served basis. Fees are $5 for a verbal appraisal; and $25 for a written appraisal.
Harmon, a highly respected expert on bird decoys, has been buying, selling and auctioning decoys and related artifacts for the past forty years. The author of numerous articles published in collector’s magazines, he has been called to appraise collections at the Heritage Museum and Gardens, the Peabody Essex Museum and many private decoy collections.
Proceeds the appraisal day will benefit programs and exhibits at the new Elmer Crowell barn. As the workshop of one of America’s most famous decoy makers, the Crowell barn has been reconstructed as a tribute to Crowell and his remarkable talent and is open for visitors, bird carving demonstrations and workshops.
