Amy Kaufman / Recent Work

Presented by Falmouth Artists Guild at Falmouth Art Center

The Falmouth Art Center is featuring Amy Kaufman’s vibrant monotypes and paintings in the Sigel Gallery from May 1 through May 30. Kaufman’s color palette reflects her life both by the seashore and in the city. The vivid colors used in her paintings are warm and alluring, inviting the viewer to respond to her art.

A native of Newton, MA, with a home in Falmouth, MA, Kaufman received her B.A. from Brandeis University, where she learned printmaking from Michael Mazur, and her M.F.A. from University of Pennsylvania. She is a Corporate Artist of the DeCordova Museum Corporate Program as well as the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston's Medici Society; and juried artist member of the Cambridge Art Association and the Cape Cod Art Association.

Kaufman’s art is in numerous private, university, and corporate collections nationwide. She has received awards, including Blue Ribbons at the Falmouth Art Center. She has exhibited in museums and galleries throughout New England, New York and the Philadelphia Museum of Art. Locally her art has been shown at Diana Levine Fine Art, Masterpiece Gallery, Canvas Fine Arts, and 29 Newbury in Boston, Depot Square Gallery in Lexington, Cape Cod Museum of Art in Dennis, and Left Bank Gallery in Wellfleet. Kaufman's art was featured on TV NECN Dream House: Elderly Home, at the Boston Design Center’s, Dream Home and in Southern New England Home magazine. It was also featured in the Hollywood movie Bride Wars starring Kate Hudson and Anne Hathaway.

One of Kaufman's unique monotypes, displayed in Boston Public Library’s main gallery reThink INK exhibition, is in the library's permanent collection. Kaufman's art was selected for the first juried exhibition at the Newton's Mayor office as one of her Pear paintings was used for the announcement. A mixed media piece was selected for a full page in the Newton Art Association brochure and her art was selected for the cover of the Spring 2015 New Art Center catalog as well as a write-up in the Spring 2016 Newton Community Education catalog.
