Exhibition of the work of 19 sculptors and painters who paint in the medium of pigmented wax,
The work of 19 sculptors and painters who paint in the medium of pigmented wax, and who are taking part in the International Encaustic Conference in Provincetown, have been invited to exhibit at the Cape Cod Museum of Art (CCMoA). The Guest Curators of the show are Joanne Mattera, founder of the Conference and Cherie Mittenthal, director of the Conference.
“Encaustic is very malleable,” said Edith (Deede) Tonelli, CCMoA director. “The curators have selected master artists that express the intriguing variety of forms that contemporary artists are using to create real or perceived depth in this medium -- from three-dimensional sculpture to built-up reliefs and two-dimensional surfaces.”
There will be a free opening reception on May 26 from 5:30 - 7 and a closing reception with the artists on June 4 from 5:30 - 7.
