August 6 - September 20, 2015 at Woodruff's Art Center in Mashpee Commons a sea-themed art exhibition will be on view entitled "The Lure of the Sea" featuring a group of twelve artists and a photographer.  There is an opening reception being held on Thursday, August 6th from 5:30-7:30pm.

The sea is timeless and can elicit romance, mystery, beauty, intrigue, affecting everyone in its own way. The art in this exhibit is all sea-themed and portrays these qualities and awakens a variety of emotions. There is an eclectic display of watercolors, acrylics, oils, pastels and photography all capturing the sea differently through the eye of each artist

The energy of the sea is felt in James Musto's "Tidal Currents ", a 26x26 oil painting with swirling sea foam meeting a rock formation creating a powerful feeling of motion.  In Amy Rice's 15x45 acrylic "Lure of the Sea",  a lone kayaker's vantage point takes in a golden sun setting in a pastel toned sky of pale blues and lavenders evoking a sense of calm serenity. Jessie Nickerson's painting "Starstruck" has a mystical essence capturing a mermaid at the edge of the sea under a night sky, delicately rendered in watercolor and ink.

The thirteen artists are all Cape Cod residents. Represented are Patty Calkins-Martin, Grace DiMauro, Julie DeMello, Cailyn Ferguson, Chris O'Dell Ferguson, Kelly Ferguson, Rich Ferreira, James Musto, Jessie Nickerson,  Amy Rice, Candice Ronesi and Karen Rinaldo.
