Unbound is an interactive pop-up arts experience designed to be participatory and uncensored. A featured event in the grass-roots ArtSpring Cape Cod “Freedom of Expression” festival,  key components of the evening include a pop-up art installation by Jackie Reeves, a space for all artists to hang  work during the event, a community chalkboard, a community performance of the groundbreaking minimalist musical work “In C” by Terry Riley, a facilitated discussion of the relationship between artist and audience, a performance by the Fat Ass Cancer Bitch, and a performance of Résonnance by the dance collective “The Sound She Makes.”

ArtSpring Cape Cod is a grass roots celebration of arts and culture spearheaded by a collaborative of cultural organizations across Cape Cod. The goal of this festival is to engage as many artists, organizations, and communities as possible in a festival that explores the important and topical theme of "Freedom of Expression." • pop-up art install ongoing downstairs in the Gallery -- Mother of Invention, a spontaneous installation by Jackie Reeves*
• UnCensored Upstairs -- upstairs galleries pop-up art hang (all comers welcome) — bring your art and hang it on the wall for a spontaneous exhibit, name and artist statement on a sticky note*
• I Am So -- outside on the chalk wall -- all welcome to fill in the blank and write your truth

- 7:00 -- "Zero F***s" Panel in the Theater  -- a discussion of the relationship between artist and  audience
- 7:30 – Terry Riley’s "In C" performance -- all invited to bring an instrument and participate in a spontaneous concert — one optional rehearsal prior week, info here***
- 8:00 – Fat Ass Cancer Bitch monologue in the Gallery****
- 8:10 -- Résonnance performance by the dance collective, The Sound She Makes*****
- 9:15 -- finale

*Mother of Invention

For a one day only pop up exhibition, sisters and artists Jackie and Adele Reeves will team up to create an art installation inspired by ArtSpring's theme, freedom of expression. Although they live in separate countries they constantly share ideas and inspirations about their studio practices. This will be their first time collaborating on a project since their childhood days of backyard performances. Using found materials they will create the way women and mothers so often do, working with what they’ve got to get the job done in a timely manner that serves the greater good!

Jackie Reeves Bio:
Cape Cod based artist Jackie Reeves uses mixed media to bring together figurative and abstract elements in her art. Her career began in graphic design and illustration but she soon became a mural painter for 15 years. Currently, drawing, painting and collage are her primary means of expression. Jackie exhibits her work in museums and galleries throughout New England. (www.jackiereeves.com)

** UnCensored Upstairs

Artists may bring work to be exhibited for the event. Work will be hung and artists may title the work with post-it notes. Work must be retrieved at the end of the event. There are no other rules. Bring a work and we will exhibit it.

***Terry Riley’s “In C”

In C is a musical piece composed by Terry Riley in 1964 for an indefinite number of performers. In C consists of 53 short, numbered musical phrases, lasting from half a beat to 32 beats. Players are encouraged to play the phrases starting at different times, even if they are playing the same phrase. The performance directions state that the musical ensemble should try to stay within two to three phrases of each other. The phrases must be played in order, although some may be skipped. **** Christine Rathbun Ernst is a writer, performer, and frequent speaker, focusing on the topics of breast cancer, family, aging, and the connection of wellness, story, and community. She performs a new one-woman show every summer as the Fat Ass Cancer Bitch. Her book, Wild Fortune: Moving Pianos in Paradise, is available on Amazon. A collective of mothers, nature lovers and art makers come together on a mission to share their reaction to the false promises or lip service coming from government and industry.

Do they have the ability to self-regulate when confronted with change and adversity?

Armed with the innately creative female energy, these women (dancers) carefully and consciously create a filter to clear away what’s not important and build resilience to all the turbulence in our world.
