Rice Gallery Celebration of New Works & New Artists

Rice Gallery Celebration of New Works & New Artists

Presented by Woodruff's Art Center at Rice Gallery

July 18, 2015 at Rice Gallery in Mashpee Commons a reception will take place to celebrate new works of art and new exhibiting artists.  The latest creations of over 30 artists and artisans will be on view and several artists will be demonstrating their talents. The celebration is being held on Saturday, July 18th from 4-6pm.

Rice Gallery was established by Amy Rice who is an artist and the owner of Woodruff's Art Center which opened in 1989 and is located on North Market Street in Mashpee Commons. Rice Gallery evolved shortly after Woodruff's was hosting an opening reception for their "Black & White" exhibit in April of 2013. People were lined up out the door trying to see the exhibit in the modest gallery area that shares space with Woodruff's custom frame shop and art supply store. Sales of art were brisk that year and a space became available directly across the street from Woodruff's at 36 Bates Road.  Amy was enticed by the ample walls of the 1600+ square foot space with tall ceilings offering the possibility to exhibit much larger works and three dimensional works. And so Rice Gallery was born.

The artists exhibiting are both established and emerging. 90% of them are local from areas of Cape Cod and the other 10% have ties to the Cape. The collection of works is eclectic and varies from contemporary to traditional and includes many mediums including oils, pastels, watercolors, drawings, charcoals, acrylics, pottery, jewelry, hand-blown glass, sculptures, photography, fiber art, printmaking, collage, prints and cards.
