The Falmouth Chorale Presents "I Hear America Singing"

Presented by Falmouth Chorale at John Wesley United Methodist Church

The Falmouth Chorale, under the direction of John Yankee presents “I Hear America Singing” on Saturday, May 6th at 4PM and on Sunday, May 7th at 4PM. The performances will take place at the John Wesley United Methodist Church, 270 Gifford Street, Falmouth, MA. The concert’s title, taken from Walt Whitman’s poem of the same name, features songs showcasing our unique American voice and spirit. Whitman said, “I hear America singing, the varied carols I hear, those of mechanics, each one singing his, as it should be blithe and strong.“ Time-honored Americana pieces from greats like troubadour Woody Guthrie and classical composer Aaron Copland will be featured. There will be music that captures experiences from the American Revolution, the Western expansion movement, slavery and immigration, the Great Depression, civic protests and exploring the great American landscape. Each song will portray the undeniable American spirit that continues to forge on through adversity and times of change. Tickets are $25/adult in advance, $30 at the door. Students $5.
