This workshop is suitable for those with some experience working with mosaics, as well as more advanced students. Over the course of 2 days, students will be able to design and begin to fabricate a 10" X 10" mosaic.  The instructor, Lisa Houck, will bring her background as a painter and designer to work with students to develop their compositions and personal imagery in mosaics.  In this workshop we will work with Mexican smalti tiles.  These tiles are handmade, and they have unusual variations in color and texture.  Lisa Houck has worked with this medium for her public art installations because it is touchable, durable, and grouat-able, as well as being painterly and subtle in its colors and textures.

This workshop will provide an in-depth experience with mosaic design and fabrication.

Students should bring photos, books, and sketches as inspiration for mosaic designs, as well as an apron.

The Instructor will bring all tools, mosaic materials, substrates, etc.  A materials fee of $50.00 is due to the instructor at the workshop.
