Silk Art Fashion Show to Benefit the Cultural Center of Cape Cod

Featuring fashions created by silk painting artist Cassia Maia. The event will begin with refreshments and a silk painting demonstration, followed by a luncheon buffet by the Brazilian Grill Restaurant and wine by M.S. Walker Fine Wines. The Brazilian Grill churrascaria is proud to share the traditions, culture and food of the southern Brazil. The fashion show will take place after the luncheon. The event will conclude with dessert and a chance to purchase Cassia’s wearable art. Cassia Maia grew up in the highlands of Brazil. She studied to become a Bachelor in Tourism, also went to the Design School of Minas Gerais and had a  scholarship at Alliance Francaise for seven years.She began her journey in silk painting in 1986, learning the art of silk painting in Pompadour, France. Cassia had the opportunity to perfect this painting technique in countries where she lived: Brazil, France, Tunisia, Spain, Morroco, Turkey and the United States.In 1993, she returned to Brazil to open her own silk painting studio. With her mother, a very skilled seamstress, she became not just a fashion designer on silk painting, but an artist with a wide range of creative manifestations in that medium. In 1998, she moved to Cape Cod, later on became a US citizens by option. She now works from her studio at home in Osterville, creating fine art paintings, silk sculptures, silk jewelry and feminine garments. Cassia is a member of SPIN, an international organization of silk artists, painters, and educators.

The Center's main parking lot is at the rear of the campus off Union Street, with overflow parking in the town lot on the corner of Old Main and Union Street or down Mill Street. The accessible parking spaces are near the accessible ramp entrance at the rear of the campus.
