Abstract Painting with Dahn Hiuni

Abstract Painting with Dahn Hiuni

Presented by Provincetown Art Association and Museum (PAAM) at Provincetown Art Association and Museum

In this intensive course, abstraction is explored as a philosophy, rather than merely a style. The workshop is a journey of discovery. We start with a review of color theory, as color plays such a central role in the formal language. Students then explore a variety of conceptual approaches to non-representation, experimenting with diverse processes and techniques. Each student-artist devises or refines a uniquely personal abstract language. Selected paintings in the museum's collection serve as inspiration.

Dahn Hiuni is a New York-based multidisciplinary artist. His work spans the fields of visual art, graphic design, film and video, performance art, and theater. Hiuni’s work has been presented at such New York venues as P.S. 122, Franklin Furnace, Mixed Greens, Artists Space, Metro Pictures, Cooper Union and Thread Waxing Space. Other exhibition and performance venues include The Walker Art Center, The Leslie-Lohman Museum of Gay and Lesbian Art, Cleveland Performance Art Festival, Delaware Center for Contemporary Art, the Art Gallery of Ontario and the Lancaster Museum of Art.
