Looking at Art with Philip Yenawine

Looking at Art with Philip Yenawine

Presented by Provincetown Art Association and Museum (PAAM) at Provincetown Art Association and Museum

This workshop is for those who simply want the pleasure of examining and discussing a wide range of art with other likeminded people. No experience necessary; simply bring your eyes, mind, and a willingness to share your ideas. We'll tease out meanings in art of many times and places including some in PAAM's galleries. Conversation is provoked by questions and moderated to make sure every comment is thoroughly explored. Returning participants are encouraged. Join us for two mornings of visual and intellectual hedonism.

Philip Yenawine has been engaged in museum education for forty years, ten years of which were spent as Director of Education at The Museum of Modern Art in New York. He is the founding director of the Aspen Art Museum and has coordinated education programs at various museums, most notably the Metropolitan Museum of Art, NY. Yenawine served as consulting curator at the Institute of Contemporary Art, Boston, and as Visiting Professor of art education at Massachusetts College of Art. He is currently the co-founding director (with cognitive psychologist Abigail Housen) of Visual Understanding in Education, a nonprofit educational research organization that develops and studies programs that train educators to use art to teach thinking and communication skills. www.vtshome.org
