An introduction to creative printmaking with Sally Brophy. Students will repurpose an eclectic selection of items into experiments in relief printing. Many everyday objects can be turned into a printer including bubble wrap, cauliflower, cardboard, corks, leaves and keys. Once started, there will be no end to the printmaking experiments using affordable materials, with no printing press required. The potential for using the same matrix to print experimental compositions, or combining different print methods with a single image, are endless. This creative investigation is perfect for beginners wanting to have fun or experienced artists looking to stir their creative juices.

Sally Brophy has been creating white line woodblock prints for more than a decade. She studied the technique with Kathryn Smith, who was taught by her grandmother, Ferol Sibley Warthen. Warthen learned from Blanche Lazzell, one of the first artists to develop the art form in Provincetown. This lineage of printmakers represents both the rich legacy and the vibrant contemporary community of white-line artists that continue to create on Cape Cod today. Brophy is represented by James R.
