Join pianist Rossano Sportiello and bassist Frank Tate for an evening of jazz standards, stride piano and perhaps a little Chopin. While he studied classical piano as a child, Rossano started playing in jazz clubs in his native Milan, Italy at age 16 He came to New York in 2007 and has become a world class jazz performer with over 25 solo or small group CDs to his credit. He is known for his charm, sense of humor and especially his stride piano technique. His concerts in Falmouth frequently sell out, especially when he appears with Frank Tate. Bassist Frank Tate started his career in New York performing with Marian MacPartland, who later hosted NPR’s Piano Jazz. He has performed with famous jazz artists Benny Goodman, Pearl Baily, and Howard Alden among others. Cape Cod jazz fans may recall that he performed as part of the house band with legendary pianist Dave McKenna at the famous Columns Club in Dennis, where jazz stars such as Tony Bennet, Lionel Hampton, Dick Johnson, and Zoot Sims played outside under the tent in the summer.
