"Henry Beston's Cape Cod"

at Hyannis Public Library

You are invited to the next “Talks & Tunes” program at the Hyannis Public Library to be held on Wednesday, July 8 at 6 p. m.  The featured guest will be Mr. Don Wilding, co-founder and executive director of the Henry Beston Society in North Eastham.

Henry Beston was the author of a number of books, but The Outermost House, A Year of Life on the Great Beach of Cape Cod is considered to be one of the seminal works of today's environmental movement, and has long been recognized as a classic of American nature writing.  Rachel Carson said it was the only book that ever influenced her writing.

Mr. Wilding will tell you about Henry Beston, the Fo’castle, and the Great Beach, as well as share rough-cut footage from the feature-length documentary film, Henry Beston’s Cape Cod:  Inspiration for a National Seashore, now in production.

Do you enjoy the natural beauty of Cape Cod as a visitor, as a part-time resident, or as a “year-‘rounder?”  Please join us at the Hyannis Library on July 8 to find out how you have been influenced by the vivid writing of Henry Beston.
