"Cape Cod: The Photo Shoot"

at Hyannis Public Library

Your seat is reserved for another Hyannis Public Library “Talks & Tunes” program on Wednesday, July 1, 2015 when we welcome photojournalist and author Steve Heaslip.  This program begins at 6 p. m. and is free and open to the public. What does a photojournalist do? And why?  Let the chief photographer for the Cape Cod Times, Steve Heaslip, show you the varied nature of his work and you’ll discover that the photograph printed in the newspaper is not always the one that was planned when the assignment started out! Steve will also talk about his work with Christina Laurie on their recently published book C is for Cape Cod.  This beautiful alphabet book has received five-star customer reviews on amazon.com because it combines playful verse, informative text, and stunning photographs that introduce children of all ages to the wonders of Cape Cod.  Steve Heaslip is a National Press Photographers Association regional and national clip contest winner and was twice named New England Newspaper and Press Association Photographer of the Year.  His photographs have appeared in National Geographic, Life, Time, Newsweek, The New York Times, and Yankee and have been shown in two exhibitions.   Originally from Rochester, New York, he lives in Barnstable and has been photographing Cape Cod since the 1980s. Copies of C is for Cape Cod will be available for sale and signing.
