The Orleans Historical Society presents
Rails To Trails: A History of Cape Cod Railroads...With Some Stories Along the Way
Sunday, February 19th – 2 PM
Join us and learn more about when and how railroads on the Cape were built and expanded, how they operated, and what it was like to ride them in the late 1800s. Hear about the "Dude Train," Keith Co., Jenny Lind Tower, and the iconic canal railroad bridge. Find out how the railroads prospered, then declined (leading to the Cape Cod Rail Trail), under New Haven ownership in the 20th Century. See pictures of Cape trains and operations that survive today. Presented by Nauset Model Railroad Club members Jay Stradal and Doug Scott. The talk will be held at the Orleans Historical Society Meetinghouse on River Road. FREE!
