"A Shore Thing" - Art by Kathleen Hall

at Maser Gallery

The art of Kathleen Hall will be on display at the Maser Gallery at Falmouth Community Television from June 28 through July 30, 2015. The public is invited to attend the Opening Reception, Sunday, June 28, from 3:00-5:00pm.

Since childhood, Kathleen Engemann Hall would seize every opportunity to draw and paint the world around her. She and her mother, Dot, an artist in her own right, would experiment with oils, watercolors, acrylics and pastels. Her professional training began as a teen when she was selected as a Carnegie Scholar, being given a 4-year scholarship to the Carnegie Museum School of Art. During her high school years she won a Scholastic Art Award and had her first solo show at the age of sixteen!

Kathy graduated from the University of Pittsburgh where she majored in Studio Arts, with attending studies at Carnegie Institute of Technology (now Carnegie Mellon University). She studied under many of Pittsburgh's greatest artists, including Virgil Cantini, Robert Qualters and Charles Pitcher, and continued her graduate work in Elementary Education.

36 years ago this month, Kathy started her custom artwork business, “Popular Palette,”  to employ her award-winning work in painting, photography, murals, portraiture, glass blowing, sculpture, and body art.  Her expert face painting is popular at several Renaissance Faires in the Northeast and Florida, where she spends her winters. Also in her eclectic range of talents: a “Fairy Lighthouse” creation, part of the “Fairy Houses of Highfield Hall” exhibit through the end of August.

Kathy has done work for various corporations such as Walker Industries, Coca Cola, Walgreens and Macy’s. You may remember “Old Cape Cowd,” a full-sized painted fiberglass cow for Boston’s Cow Parade 2006 or “The Scrimshaw Whale” in front of the Falmouth Library as part of Cape Cod’s Whale Trail 2006.

Kathy’s artistic vision is quite simple, “I paint what I love, and hope others love it too.” Living on Cape Cod and in Florida, she is always intrigued by shore life and nautical themes abound in her paintings.

Maser Gallery Exhibit Hours: Sunday 2-10 p.m.; Monday 2-10 p.m; Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, 10-10 p.m; Friday 10-6 p.m.
