Create paintings that have visual movement, paintings that have the viewer's eye move across and around the canvas.
The three-day workshop will use the still-life set up as the starting point to develop a composition that works within the plane of the canvas. The use of color temperatures and harmonies, textures, contrasts and good composition will be taught as ways to bring visual interest to the painting.
This workshop will give one the opportunity to work on one painting for the three days or to develop and complete two paintings. Water mixable oil paints will be the first choice, but traditional oil paints may also be used. Each day will start with a quick demo by Suzanne and discussion of what to look for in a painting. A lot of individual instruction will be given to each student during the workshop. The day will end with a group critique, a beneficial way to learn by looking at what others are doing.
