"COASTLINE: FALMOUTH" - Photography by Lisa Jo Rudy & Sara Cook

Presented by Falmouth Community Television at Unknown

Photography by Lisa Jo Rudy and Sara Cook will be on display at the Maser Gallery at Falmouth Community Television from October 2 through October 27, 2016. The public is invited to attend the Opening Reception: Sunday, October 2, from 3:00-5:00 pm.

Lisa Jo Rudy began her photographic journey in her teens, creating portraits and landscapes with an SLR camera.  It wasn’t until she arrived in Falmouth in 2007 and purchased her first iPhone that she began experimenting with digital photography and editing.  “I have no formal photography training - besides one course in high school and a couple of online classes on the web!  I’m what you’d call self-taught,” says Lisa.  “I grew up outside New York in Westchester County, went to college at Wesleyan University in CT and earned a Masters in Divinity at Harvard.”  Lisa’s life travels found her living in Somerville MA, Minneapolis MN, and then in and around Philadelphia, PA where she met her husband, Peter, and started a family.  In 2007, she moved to Cape Cod.

Through a process of experimentation and discovery, she has developed a unique approach to landscape and nature photography, using a combination of digital editing techniques to bridge the gap between camera, eye, and imagination.

Over the past five years, Lisa has exhibited in multiple national and regional juried shows including the National Show at Cape Cod Art Association and the Cape Cod Art Association’s annual juried exhibit at the Cotuit Center for the Arts. Her work has won several awards, and she is a Juried Artist at the Cape Cod Art Association.  Lisa’s work has also been featured in the Falmouth Visitors’ Guide, and in shows at Falmouth Hospital, Preservation Hall in Wellfleet, and the Coast Guard Museum in Barnstable.

Lisa’s daughter, Sara Cook, is co-exhibiting with her own photographs. Sara is a 17-year-old junior at Sturgis Charter School where she is pursuing an International Baccalaureate. Her photography twice won the Best of Show award at the Barnstable County Fair, and has been seen at the Cape Cod Art Foundation’s annual juried show at the Cotuit Center for the Arts. In addition to her photography, Sara is an accomplished visual artist and seamstress. She is costumer for Sturgis’s 2016 production of Romeo and Juliet, and is taking high level courses in visual art.
