Secret Shelters Outdoor Exhibition

Secret Shelters Outdoor Exhibition

at Heritage Museums & Gardens

Explore nine artistic “Secret Shelters” in this season’s outdoor exhibit, made by artists and architects. The artist interpretations of the word ‘secret shelter’ are tucked around Heritage’s trees, hills and hidden spaces! Secret Shelters features for contemplating nature, practicing the art of meditation, writing poetry, gazing at the heavens or other uses that you invent. Each installation allows you to enter the space and contemplate the gardens and grounds at Heritage from artistically composed vantage points.

Boston architect Yugon Kim’s Outside-In plays with the concept of what is inside and what is out in a shelter that wraps the space around Heritage’s Tulip Tree. Wing’s Spire by Nancy Winship Milliken uses handmade irregular netting of mono-filament to create an airy interior with the sound of wind as an experiential element. Designer Joel Reider utilizes a sod exterior in Eaves/Grass, while Tessa D’Agostino creates a space for writing poetry while listening to Heritage’s rushing Flume Fountain in her installation called Temple of Theosophical Truths.

Local architects Mary-Ann Agresti and Sue Beardsley are among the artists showing their inspired shelters along with Erica Quigley, Leslie Alexander Endes and Wyatt Armstrong.

Heritage is grateful to our exhibit sponsor Arts Foundation of Cape Cod
