The Percussion Plus Project... A Very Special Concert

The Percussion Plus Project... A Very Special Concert

Presented by Cultural Center of Cape Cod at Cultural Center of Cape Cod

The Percussion Plus Project makes its Cape Cod debut. Featuring percussion along with conventional instruments, it is an internationally known ensemble that has performed, premiered and recorded innovative music for over 20 years. Founded and originally based in Prague, the ensemble has most recently been in residence in the mid-west since 2002.  It has now been re-formed on Cape Cod by founder and artistic director, Dr. Amy Lynn Barber, with well-known area musicians.

For this debut concert, Cape cellist Bo Ericsson will join Barber in a performance of the hauntingly expressive piece Mariel, for cello and marimba, by Osvaldo Golijov. Venezuelan-born, Boston-based flutist Orlando Cela and Barber will perform works by Alois Ajdic and Barbara Kolb. A highlight of the concert will be the performance of a new work written for the group by Sandwich resident David Cohen, known here for his composing and arranging work with the Cape Symphony. Entitled A Day in the Life, for piano and percussion, it will feature pianist David Kuehn, Executive Director of the Cotuit Center for the Arts, along with percussionists Barber and Cape Symphony timpanist Mark Prall. There will also be an opportunity to meet the composer and gain insight into the process of composing and performing a new work. Call for reservations.
