Falmouth Museums on the Green Hosts Bus Trip to Pilgrim Monument and Provincetown Museum

Presented by Museums on the Green (operated by the Falmouth Historical Society) at Pilgrim Monument and Provincetown Museum

In advance of the busy summer tourist season, Falmouth Museums on the Green will host a bus trip to Pilgrim Monument and Provincetown Museum. The bus will depart from Museums on the Green, located at 55 Palmer Avenue, at 9 AM on Tuesday, May 19 and leave Provincetown at 3 PM.

The monument was built in 1907 to commemorate the landing of the Pilgrims, who originally stopped in Provincetown before continuing on to Plymouth. There the Pilgrims signed the Mayflower Compact, and the Museum celebrates Provincetown's rich maritime past. Two current exhibitions that are located in one gallery shed light on each other: “Captured 1614: Our Story, A Wampanoag History” and The First Landing of the Pilgrims in Provincetown. They reveal critical events that set the course for the founding of Plymouth Colony and American history.

The monument is about 252 feet tall, and rises 350 feet above sea level. The walk to the top on 116 steps and 60 ramps takes about 10 minutes at a leisurely pace, so comfortable shoes are strongly encouraged.

Tickets are $ 45 per person, which includes the bus trip and Museum admission, and seating is limited. Lunch is not included and will be handled by each individual. Time will allow for attendees to explore Provincetown's iconic Commercial Street on their own before departure.  To purchase tickets, call 508-548-4857 ext. 11 or visit museumsonthegreen.org.
